He isn''t saying much. Just that he''s looking for actors. Barely recovering from Fire and Rain, Arjun Sajnani is already getting started with his next big production. This January, Arjun Sajnani Productions will stage Girish Karnad''s classic contemporary play Thuglak.
"It''s an interesting opportunity for male actors of any age to perform on a big platform, for my productions are never small," says Sajnani.

Since he had so much fun working with Karnad''s Fire and Rain, this was just natural progression. That it''s an Indian play in English makes the experience more appealing. "People think of it as a landmark piece. Thuglak is a hugely mature piece and needs a director with maturity and confidence."
Same goes for the cast. Sajnani is looking for male actors between 25 years to 50 years or more, with theatre experience. "The actors have to be smart and looks always help."
He''s happy he''s never seen the play before, as that gives him the scope to experiment. "Bangalore always responds to big theatrical events. This city loves splash and dash. This attempt is serious and what underlies the glitz is that it''s real." To make the movie Thuglak wasn''t possible as rights weren''t available. As for auditions for the play, it''s on November 7. Actors can call Sunny Films Production at 2127243/44. "An open call helps because I have to think of casting for so many other things besides just the play."
Deepthi Sudhindra will assist Sajnani as stage manager and will also handle production details. Sajnani explains that the event for which the play is being staged is a celebration of performing arts and that''s the spirit with which they are approaching the event. "I expect strong Bangalore actors to be involved. This is as professional as it gets in India and is a great learning experience for those working with us. Yes, I am very demanding and I expect three months of everybody''s time to be mine. But I get the job done."
