So our new Mayor CM Nagaraj wants a Contessa? Tut-tut-tut. And he wants it grabbed from the new Deputy Mayor LA Jayalakshmi. Now why would he want to do that? Because, alas, his official vehicle is an Ambassador and he wouldn’t want the deputy to be cruising around in a Contessa would he? So how come the deputy has a bigger car than the mayor? Because some of the mayor’s predecessors got rid of their old cars and were eyeing more luxurious ones and the Opposition forced them to shelve their plans.
Maybe the Mayor should take a leaf from the Prime Minister’s book and buy a BMW instead. Or a Jaguar. After all Bangalore is an upmarket city and boasts some of the richest men in India.
And isn’t it true that the main job of the mayor and the corporators is to misuse public money?
Wonder what Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna has to say about this latest ‘scandal’?
Hadn’t the mayor fallen at his feet soon after being sworn in and then made a public statement that he would end graft in the BCC?
What a sick joke! Here is a man who told the media only the other day that all he was interested in was making the BCC accountable to the people; that his mission was to turn Bangalore into a model city; that he would work into the wee hours of the morning to see to it that every ward was kept neat and tidy.
And what is the first thing he does? Demand a goddamned car!
Just proves that the 40th mayor of the Knowledge Capital of India is no better than his predecessors.
