By: Prachi AhluwaliaMG Motor India today launched the Comet EV in the Indian market. Based on the GSEV platform, the MG Comet EV is available at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
On the outside, the MG Comet EV has received LED headlamps and tail-lamps, LED DRLs, and an LED strip running across the width of the car at the front and rear.
The MG Comet EV sits on aerodynamic-designed 12-inch alloy wheels. The design of the electric hatchback is further accentuated by the rear-view mirror and an aero-craft cabin window in the second row, states MG.
The MG Comet EV has a roomy cabin with a 4-seater configuration with 50:50 settings on the second row of seats. The Comet EV cabin follows the dual-tone grey and white theme.
Moving on to the interior, the MG Comet EV gets a multi-function two-spoke steering wheel with pod-like controls. The centre console comes equipped with features like electric window operation buttons. Another unique feature of the MG Comet EV is the digital Bluetooth key with sharing function for up to two people.
The MG Comet EV has received a rotary gear selector with a rotary knob finished in chrome. The Comet EV gets three drive modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport.
Powering the MG Comet EV will be a 17.3 KWh battery that will offer an ARAI-certified range of around 230 km on a single charge. The PMS motor will generate 41.4 hp power and 110 Nm torque.
The MG Comet EV gets a floating dual display widescreen, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Moreover, it gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and an in-built iSmart system with 55+ connected car features, to name a few.
The MG Comet EV will be offered in five colour options - Apple Green with Black Roof, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, Candy White, and Candy White with Black Roof.
MG has evaluated the Comet EV charging cost, which will be around Rs 519 per 1,000 km. Please note that figures might vary depending on power tariffs.
The safety suite of the MG Comet EV comes loaded with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear three-point seat belts, Rear Parking Camera & Sensor, TPMS (Indirect), and ISOFIX child seat.
MG Motor India states that the Comet EV bookings will commence on 15th May 2023. Test drives will start from April 27, 2023.
