By: Prachi AhluwaliaRecently spotted testing internationally, Mini has revealed the powertrain details of the 2024 Cooper EV. It will mark its global debut in May 2024.
Mini will offer the Cooper EV in electric and combustion powertrain options, however the petrol-powered Cooper will be sold in five door option only.
The next-gen Mini Cooper EV will be manufactured in China and will be based on the Spotlight EV platform developed in partnership with Great Wall Motors.
The all-electric Cooper will be available in two battery packs - a 40kWh in the standard E variant and a 54 kWh in the top-spec SE trim.
The 2024 Mini Cooper EV will offer a claimed range of 386 km as compared to 241 km delivered by the current-gen model.
The standard all-electric Cooper will generate 181 hp power, while the range-topping SE variant produces 218 hp power. It will have a two-wheel drive system.
Dimensionally, the upcoming all-electric Mini Cooper measures 3.8 metres in length. In terms of design, it will feature new disk-shaped DRLs and bulbous headlamps.
At the rear, the next-gen Cooper EV will receive revised tail-lamps and a large rimless center screen.
Likely to arrive in mid-2025, the JCW version of the Mini Cooper EV will make use of a 54 kWh battery with upgraded motors and focus on power.
