Aprilia Tuono 457 review: Street-focused, fun and accessible!

Aprilia Tuono 457

The Tuono badge has always stood for raw performance and aggressiveness, and the new Aprilia Tuono 457 carries all of that and more in a much more accessible form. Instead of being a naked version of the RS 457, this motorcycle feels purpose-built for the street from the ground up. The model is priced at Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Here’s what we think of it after spending time with it in Delhi.

2/7

Aprilia Tuono 457: Design and road presence

The Tuono 457 doesn’t look like a stripped-down RS or even its larger Tuono siblings, and that works in its favour. The new vertically stacked LED headlamp with boomerang-style DRLs gives it a sharp identity. The muscular fuel tank and extended side panels keep it looking aggressive even without fairings. From the rear, it still carries the RS’s sporty DNA, making it look compact, sharp and very much like a proper streetfighter.

3/7

Aprilia Tuono 457: Engine & performance

Powering the Tuono 457 is the same 457cc parallel-twin engine seen on the RS. It produces 47.6 hp and 43.5 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. However, the shorter gearing makes a noticeable difference. Acceleration feels quicker, overtakes are easier, and the bike feels more responsive in real-world riding. The power delivery is smooth and linear, with a strong mid-range that suits both city rides and highway cruising.

4/7

Aprilia Tuono 457: Riding experience

On the move, the Tuono feels lively and engaging. The upright riding position, thanks to the wide handlebar, makes it far more comfortable than the RS for daily use. You feel less pressure on your wrists and back, which is a big plus in traffic. The bike feels relaxed at cruising speeds and happiest around the mid-range, where it feels effortless and enjoyable.

5/7

Aprilia Tuono 457: Handling

Despite weighing around 175 kg, the Tuono 457 feels easy to handle. The wide handlebar gives good control, especially while changing direction quickly. It uses the same 41mm USD front forks and rear monoshock as the RS, set up on the firmer side. This gives the bike good stability through corners without making it uncomfortable on regular roads. It feels confident, predictable and well-balanced.

6/7

Aprilia Tuono 457: Braking and safety

Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS. The braking performance is progressive and easy to manage, though the front brake could have had a slightly stronger initial bite. Once familiar with it, stopping feels controlled and reassuring.

7/7

Aprilia Tuono 457: Features and electronics

The Tuono 457 is well-equipped for its segment. It gets a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, multiple ride modes, switchable traction control and rear ABS off function. These features add to both safety and convenience. The quickshifter is optional, which feels acceptable here given the pricing, especially compared to the RS 457.

The Aprilia Tuono 457 is for riders who want performance without the compromises of a full-faired sportbike. It delivers the excitement of the RS 457 in a more practical, comfortable and street-friendly package. It makes a strong case for itself as a fun, everyday performance motorcycle that still carries the Aprilia racing spirit.
