ICOTY 2024 contenders announced across three categories: Details explained
The final contenders of the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2024 have been announced and the competition will be quite intense as recently launched compact SUVs, off-roaders and electric vehicles compete for the top spot. Alongside ICOTY, the jury will also select winners for its Premium Car Award and Green Car Award. 2023 has been an action packed year in terms of car launches across different segments and being in the list of ICOTY contenders is a defining statement for each of these vehicles.
For the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2024 award, the jury has shortlisted the following models, which include the MG Comet micro-EV to the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV. Here is the list of contenders.
• Honda Elevate
• Hyundai Exter
• Hyundai Verna
• Maruti Suzuki Jimny
• Toyota Innova Hycross
• Mahindra XUV400
• Citroen C3 Aircross
• MG Comet
Competition will be fierce in the Premium Car award segment as well, as legacy models such as BMW 7 series and Range Rover get pitted against the new age luxury offering like Hyundai Ioniq 5. This category includes vehicles that are priced over Rs 40 lakh ex-showroom. Here are the premium car contenders for 2024.
• BMW 7 Series
• Hyundai Ioniq 5
• Lexus LX
• Land Rover Range Rover Sport
• Mercedes-Benz GLC
• Volvo C40 Recharge
• Lexus RX 350
• BMW X1
With the recent emergence of electric vehicles, the ICOTY 2024 Green Car Award is also going to be a fully packed affair. There are no less than eight electric vehicles competing for the award and these include luxury EVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQE to the most affordable EV in the country, the MG Comet. Here is the full list.

With the stage set, a jury of senior automotive journalists from major publications and media houses will now pick the winners in each of the three categories.
