Hyundai to launch new mid-size SUV and localized EV in FY27: Details
Hyundai Motor India has confirmed plans to launch two completely new SUVs in the country during FY27. The announcement was made as part of the company’s financial results for FY2025-26, where Hyundai also outlined its future growth and expansion plans for the Indian market.
One of the upcoming models will be a new mid-size SUV powered by an internal combustion engine, while the second product will be a compact electric SUV based on a localised dedicated EV platform. Hyundai added that the upcoming EV will mark the debut of its localised dedicated battery electric vehicle in the compact SUV category. The company has not revealed specific names and details yet.
The company is targeting domestic volume growth of 8 to 10 percent in FY27, backed by new product launches, network expansion and higher production capacity. Hyundai also expects exports to grow by 8 to 10 percent despite global geopolitical uncertainties.
Hyundai said it achieved its highest-ever quarterly domestic sales in Q4 FY26, with wholesale volumes rising 8.7 percent year-on-year. Rural penetration also touched a record 25 percent during the quarter. The company also reported its highest-ever quarterly CNG contribution at 18 percent.
Hyundai is also expanding its manufacturing operations in India. The company announced an additional expansion of 70,000 units at its Pune facility after Phase-II development. This will take Hyundai’s total annual production capacity in India to 1.14 million units by 2030. As part of its future investment roadmap, Hyundai has also planned a capital expenditure of around Rs 7,500 crore for FY27 to support product development, manufacturing expansion and overall growth in India.
