The

has been developed with the focus on the discerning progressive rural consumers, the company said in a statement.

“TVS Radeon boasts of multiple first-in-class features and usage-led design, which offers strength, comfort and style without compromising practicality,” said KN Radhakrishnan, President and CEO, TVS Motor Company. “I am confident TVS Radeon will find favour with our consumers, who are looking for a strong, comfortable and durable motorcycle.”

The motorcycle has been designed keeping practicality at priority and the same can be observed in the conventional appearance of the model. It is based on a single-downtube frame which uses the engine as a stressed member for better rigidity. Moreover, the bike has a high ground clearance of 180mm for hassle-free usage in rural India. The seating height, still, has been kept optimum for easy ground reachability for riders of varying body stature.

While the design of the Radeon is quite conventional, it receives some interesting elements like LED daytime running lights, chrome bezel on the headlamp, metallic badging and thigh pads on the fuel tank and a premium ribbed brown seat. The twin-pod instrument cluster is analog-type and looks easy to read.

Powering the TVS Radeon is a 109.7cc ‘Dura-Life’ engine which churns out 8.4PS at 7,000rpm and a peak torque of 8.7Nm at 5,000rpm. The engine has been tuned for better low- and mid- range delivery and it comes mated to a four-speed gearbox. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 10-litre and claims to return a real-life fuel efficiency of 69.3kmpl.

The two-wheeler runs on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with standard features like ‘Dura-Grip’ tubeless tyres and drum brakes. It is the first motorcycle in the country which gets the Synchronized Braking Technology (SBT) with drum-type brakes and features a luggage carrier with the rear grab rail. The rear suspensions are five-step adjustable and the company is also offering a USB mobile charger as an optional accessory with the motorcycle.

The overall design and features of the motorcycle represent it as a potential competitor to India’s best-selling motorcycle, the
