Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) on Thursday announced the launch of its new premium scooter '
Burgman Street
' with a price tag of Rs 68,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available in matte grey, sparkle black and pearl white colour options, the model promises to provide a noticeable road presence.
The 125cc Burgman Street bridges the price gap between the entry-level premium, like the
Honda Grazia
(Rs 63,994) and the TVS NTorq (Rs 59,687), and the more premium
Vespa
LX125 (Rs 74,400). So, there is no direct competition, right now, for the Suzuki's new entrant.
The new scooter gets a European design with a large front fairing and integrated LED headlamp. It gets the same 125cc air-cooled engine which powers the popular Suzuki Access 125. Mated to a CVT (continuously variable transmission), the motor churns out 8.7PS and a peak torque of 10.2Nm.
Features like alloy wheels, front disc brake and CBS (
Combined Braking System
) comes standard with the Burgman Street. LED position lamp and tail lamp, and a fully-digital instrument cluster are among the other standard features.
Some interesting additions to the package include a convenient front pocket with standard fitment of DC socket and USB charger as an optional extra. Also, the new scooter offers an under-seat storage capacity of 21.5-litre which is class-leading.
