Suzuki Motorcycle India

on Wednesday announced the launch of two dirt motorcycle models -- RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 -- in India with price tags of Rs 7.1 lakh and Rs 8.31 lakh ( both ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The company said that both the models offer an exhilarating off-roading experience to the riders.

"Over the past few years, we have witnessed a great spur in the off-roading and adventurous riding experiences among Indian riders," said Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director,

Suzuki Motorcycle

India Pvt Ltd. "Paying attention to this rising demand in the racing and adventure category, we are thrilled to launch these purpose-built motorcycles, RM-Z450 and RM-250."

"The bikes boast of great performance, distinctive design, and agility that is unique to RMZ series, offering great handling and control to riders," he added.

Suzuki is the second Japanese bikemaker to launch off-road-only motorcycles (not for road use) in the country. Earlier,

Kawasaki

had launched such motorcycles from its KX and KLX series and it currently has a portfolio of six

RM-Z450 follows the company's distinctive design theme 'Beak DNA' which, the company said, aids the

off-road bikes

with speed and sharpness. The slim styling enables the rider to easily shift weight and manoeuvre effortlessly.

Powered by a 449cc, 4-stroke, fuel injected, DOHC engine, the lightweight RM-Z250 comes with Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC) which has three selectable modes for different terrains. It is the first motocross bike to adopt new balance free rear cushion (BFRC) technology, claiming excellent traction and better shock absorption.

Similarly, the RM-Z250 is powered with a 249cc, 4-stroke, fuel injected, DOHC engine and gets a compact, lightweight design.
