The German auto company will launch the two vehicles on August 21, exactly a month after it brought in the AMG GLC 43 Coupe at Rs 74.80 lakh (ex showroom)> at an event to mark 50 years of AMG. The latest sports cars though will be the range-topping models with the AMG GT R having a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing 585hp and having 700Nm of torque. The car is billed to go from naught to 100kmph in 3.6 seconds. The car gets 20-inch aluminium wheels and titanium silencer in a bid to keep the weight of the car lesser than the GT S which is already available in India.

The GT R is also the first AMG from Mercedes to have rear wheel steering which would - in simple terms - help the rear wheels move exactly how the front wheels do at a speed in excess of 100kmph. This, the company says, will help the car remain steady and stable. After all, while the car is based on the

Nurburgring

24-hour race winning Mercedes GT3, it is a road-version.

The AMG GT Roadster on the other hand does come with the same engine but it produces lesser power - 470hp and 630 Nm of torque.

Both cars are expected to be priced at well over Rs 2 crores (ex showroom).
