Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday launched the
2017 Dzire sedan at a starting price of Rs 5.45 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi).
One of the most consistently high-selling models for the company in the country, bookings for the new Dzire had been opened earlier this month at a token amount of Rs 11,000. The company has said that the response has been strong because of what is on offer.
The new car - now without the Swift badge - is based on the HEARTECT platform which promises to make the car lighter, stronger, more rigid and safer.
The Dzire also gets AGS (Auto Gear Shift) technology on both petrol and diesel in V models and upwards. The DDiS 190 Diesel and VVT 1.2 petrol K series engines will do the duties under the hood.
While the exterior gets a fresh makeover courtesy all-new head lights, front-grille and generous additions of chrome, the interiors are quite posh as well with urbane satin chrome and burl wood ornamentation and tech additions like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Dzire has been one of the best-selling car models in the country but will continue to face competition from other compact sedans in India like the recently-facelifted Hyundai Xcent , Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo and the recently-launched Tata Tigor.
