The edition draws its inspiration from the legendary American hill climb race -

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

race in Colorado. And the launch announcement comes immediately after legendary racer Carlin Dunne has led the 2018 Spider Grips Ducati Pikes Peak team to victory at this year’s annual running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC).

"The

Multistrada 1260

Pikes Peak proved as amazing as we all hoped. It performed flawlessly, giving me everything I needed to get up the mountain. Pikes Peak is never an easy race, but the weather cooperated and we clinched the victory for Ducati," Dunne said.

This is Ducati’s seventh victory on the mountain since the company’s debut in 2008.

Based on the newly-launched Multistrada 1260 S, the Pikes Peak version gets the 1262cc Testastretta DVT L-twin engine that delivers 158PS at 9,500rpm and a peak torque of 129.5Nm at 7,500rpm.

Changes in the chassis include a new front end geometry and a longer swingarm. Along with a race-inspired colour scheme, the special edition comes equipped with new forged aluminium wheels, which are lighter than those of the base trim. In addition, the bike is fitted with the Ohlins top-range fork and Ohlins TTX36 rear shock absorber, which can both be adjusted mechanically.

Other additions to the Pikes Peak edition include a Termignoni exhaust system, carbon fibre windscreen and additional Plexiglas windscreen along with carbon fibre front mudguard, air intake covers and Hands-Free cover.
