Honda Cars India
on Wednesday launched a new variant of its mid-sized sedan 'City' priced at Rs 12.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Prior to this day, the fully loaded petrol variant of this popular sedan was available with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox only latched with a starting pricetag of Rs 14.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new trim christened ZX MT, is powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine coupled with manual transmission and gets additional features such as rear parking sensors. The model gets two new exterior colours: Radiant Red Metallic and Lunar Silver across the line-up.
According to the company, the new trim is introduced due to high demand from buyers for top spec petrol variant in manual transmission.

The new variant comes with various features like six airbags, an electric sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers among others. The same features are offered in its automatic counterpart as well.
The Honda City is now offered in a total of four manual gearbox variants for both petrol and diesel: SV, V, VX and ZX. Since the base S model is scrapped by the carmaker, the starting price now stands at Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base petrol model while the diesel manual SVMT trim starts at Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Additionally, petrol automatic gearbox is also available in V, VX and ZX grades. As of now, Honda City is not offered with a diesel automatic option.
Honda had first launched City in India in January 1998, and till date has sold over 7.5 lakh units of the sedan.
