NEW DELHI: Datsun India has announced that the prices of the much-awaited redi-GO will be declared on June 7. The entry-level passenger car offering from Datsun made its global debut in April this year. The company has mentioned that the redi-GO will be introduced at a starting price ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to up to Rs 3.5 lakh for the top-end model.

The redi-GO is built on the CMF-A platform that also underpins the Renault Kwid that is currently sold in India. Datsun has followed a 'tall boy' design for the redi-GO, thereby providing more headroom space for passengers. The car has a sloping bonnet with the signature hexagonal grille. The concept version of the vehicle hasn't changed much in the production model of the redi-GO. It also features Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), but that apparently will be available only for the top end model.

Motive force for the redi-GO will come from the same 800cc three-pot mill that does duty in the Renault Kwid. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while the later models of the redi-GO could come with an AMT variant option. With a fuel tank capacity of 35 litres, Datsun claims the redi-GO will return a mileage of over 25kmpl.

Pre-bookings of the redi-GO are already underway. The Datsun redi-GO has already reached dealerships and will be available in five colour options. In India, the Datsun redi-GO will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon, and its cousin - the Renault Kwid.
