With the

ABS

mandatory regulation nearing, most of the manufacturers have started offering ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) or

CBS

(Combi Brake System) with their models in India. The latest one to get the safety feature is the Benelli

TNT 300

which now comes with ABS as a standard fitment. The updated model has been priced at Rs 3.29 lakh (ex-showroom) -- around Rs 21,000 over and above the non-ABS version -- and dealers have started taking bookings for it.

There is no other change in the motorcycle apart from the dual-channel ABS that assists both the dual front and the single rear disc brake setup.

Powered by a 300cc, liquid-cooled, inline twin-cylinder engine, the

Benelli

TNT 300 offers 38.26PS of power at 11,500rpm and 26.5Nm at 10,000rpm. The eight-valve, DOHC motor comes mated to a six-speed transmission that gets a regular wet multi-plate clutch arrangement.

The semi-trellis frame of the bike suspends on inverted telescopic forks at the front and gets an off-set monoshock at the rear which is adjustable for preload. The 17-inch alloys come shod with MRF tyres as standard, while the high-performance Prirelli rubber is offered as an optional extra. Also, the Pirelli set is slightly wider as compared to the 110/70 section front and 150/60 section rear MRF tyres.

In the Indian market, the Benelli TNT 300 competes with the likes of the

KTM 390 Duke

and the

Kawasaki Z250

. While the prior already comes with switchable ABS as standard, the feature has been given a miss in the latter.
