Hyundai Motor India Limited

on Monday announced the launch of the 2018 facelift model of its popular SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle), the

Creta

. Starting at Rs 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the SUV gets a style update along with some new features to provide a better ownership experience to its new customers.

The vehicle is available in 13 trim options with the prices going up to Rs 15.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec SX optional diesel variant.

"The benchmark success of CRETA with over four lakh happy customers globally is a testimony of the customers’ increasing preference towards the company's modern premium products," Hyundai Motor India's MD and CEO YK Koo said while announcing the launch.

He also said that the new 2018 Creta will create new benchmarks in the SUV segment with its superior performance and new age technology features while creating brilliant ownership experience.

The

new Hyundai Creta

looks bolder and sportier with the company's new signature cascade design front grille and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. It gets redesigned front and rear bumpers with the dual-tone combination, new skid plates and glossy black c-pillar for a more dynamic appearance. The bi-functional projector headlamps are also new along with the C-shaped LED daytime running lights, fog lamps and the tail lamp cluster.

The Creta comes with premium features like keyless entry, electric sunroof, fully automatic temperature control with cluster ioniser, six-way electrically adjustable driver seat among the others, depending on the variant selection. The 2018 model also gets a cruise control for ease of driving on highways and is also available in a new Tangerine Orange Interior Colour pack with Dual Tone Exterior colour options.

It comes with a 7-inch touchscreen AVN (Audio, Visual and Navigation) system, smartphone connectivity options (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink), wireless charging and a Smart Key Band. Another feature added to the new model is the 'iBlue' audio control app.

Built on a HIVE Body Structure, the

Hyundai Creta

is made with Ultra-high Strength Steel (UHSS) and Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS). The company provide safety features like dual airbags, speed sensing auto door locks and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) as standard across all the variants of the SUV. The higher variants further get up to six airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), HAC (Hill Assist Control), stating bending lights and reverse parking camera with sensors. New additions to the list are an electrochromic mirror and front seatbelts with pretensioners.

There's no mechanical update to the model and the Hyundai Creta continues with same engine options, including the 123PS, 1.6-litre petrol; 128PS, 1.6-litre diesel and the most fuel-efficient 90PS, 1.4-litre diesel engine.

The six-speed manual transmission and the six-speed automatic transmission in both petrol and diesel are offered. And the company claims an improved fuel efficiency by up to 3 per cent in the petrol and up to 4 per cent in the diesel engine in the 2018 model of the Creta.



The 2018 model is available with seven single-tone and two dual-tone colour options. The newly-added options are Marina Blue, Passion Orange and Passion Orange with Black.

In India, the Hyundai Creta competes with the likes of the Jeep Compass, Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano.
