NEW DELHI: German carmaker BMW on Tuesday launched its new X3 xDive30i SUV in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 56.9 lakh (ex-showroom).
The BMW X3 (xDrive20d) was launched in the country around a couple of months ago with a 190PS, 2.0-litre diesel engine option. What the new xDrive30i variant brings is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which is also available with the 3-series (320d) and the 5-series (520d) models.
Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the new petrol powertrain delivers 252PS and 350Nm of torque. With the help of the xDrive all-wheel-drive system, it makes the petrol powered BMW X3 capable of doing a 0-100kmph sprint in 6.3 seconds.
The X3 petrol also gets auto start-stop function, regenerative braking and four driving modes.
BMW claims that the third-generation model of its X3 is significantly stiffer and around 55kg lighter than its predecessor while the overall dimensions remain the same. The wheelbase, however, is longer, providing more cabin space in the SUV.
The petrol X3 is offered in the Luxury Line trim with 19-inch wheels and a host of other features carried from the new 5-Series.
The new X3 xDrive30i comes with the BMW Display Key for remote parking, 360-degree camera view with park assist, gesture control for infotainment system and wireless charging along with a welcome light carpet.
Safety features of the SUV comprise of six-airbags, electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, crash sensor, electronic vehicle immobilizer, dynamic stability control (DSC) including cornering brake control (CBC), attentiveness assistance and ISOFIX child seat mounting.
In India, the BMW X3 xDrive 30i competes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic, Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE and the Lexus NX 300h hybrid SUV.
