Kia Carens Clavis launch: Safety
The Kia Clavis is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering more than 20 safety and driver-aid features for enhanced on-road confidence. It also includes six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear occupant alert, and a comprehensive suite of 18 active and passive safety technologies.

Kia Carens Clavis launch: Variants and colour options
The new Carens Clavis will be offered in seven variants - HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX and HTX+. Colour options will include - Ivory Silver Gloss, Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Sparkling Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, and Clear White.

The upcoming Kia Clavis will be offered with three engine choices: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. The turbo-petrol variant will come paired with both manual and automatic transmission options, providing buyers with greater flexibility based on their driving preferences.

Pre-bookings for the upcoming Kia Clavis will officially begin at 12:00 AM on May 9, 2025. Prospective buyers can reserve their unit by paying a booking amount of ₹25,000 either through Kia’s official website or at authorised dealerships across the country. Pricing details are expected to be revealed in the coming month.

Kia has revealed that 58% of Carens buyers prefer petrol-powered variants, while the remaining 42% opt for diesel. When it comes to transmission choices, 32% of customers go for either an automatic or iMT (clutchless manual), reflecting a shift toward convenience-focused driving. Interestingly, 28% of buyers pick trims equipped with a sunroof—highlighting the increasing popularity of this feature among Indian car buyers.

The Clavis is expected to come packed with a host of high-end features, including a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a premium sound system, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree camera, among others. A recent teaser hints at a fully digital instrument cluster, similar to the one offered in models like the Seltos and Syros.

Inside, the cabin gets a comprehensive makeover, starting with a redesigned dashboard and a new two-spoke steering wheel—identical to the one seen in the Kia Syros. At the front, the Clavis features a sealed-off grille that gives it a clean, contemporary look, while the bumper incorporates a bold black insert paired with a silver faux skid plate for added contrast. From the side, the SUV stands out with larger 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that sport a fresh star-inspired design—more modern and eye-catching than those on the Carens MPV. Apart from the updated wheels, elements like the black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, silver roof rails, and body-coloured door handles remain familiar, closely echoing the Carens’ styling cues.

Though it shares its roots with the Carens, the Kia Clavis sets itself apart with a fresh identity, both in design and features. Its exterior styling draws clear inspiration from the global Kia EV5, giving it a futuristic edge. The front end, in particular, has undergone a major transformation, now featuring a sharper, more angular look. A standout element is the new tri-beam LED headlamp setup housed within triangular clusters, complemented by sleek LED daytime running lights that lend the vehicle a bold and assertive presence.

Mechanically, the Clavis is expected to retain the same engine options as the Carens. A 1.5-litre turbo diesel with 115 hp, 250 nm. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 115 hp, 144 nm and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with 160 hp power and 253Nm torque. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed MT, iMT and AT for diesel. 6-speed MT only with NA petrol and a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT with turbo petrol.

The previously teased teaser shows a glimpse of a fully digital instrument cluster similar to what we’ve seen in the Seltos and Syros. The teaser also confirms that the Clavis will get ADAS features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and much more.

The new Clavis features a redesigned upright front facia with three pod LED headlights and updated LED Daytime Running Lights, now in line with Kia’s latest design language.
