Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella vs Hyundai Creta Electric range, specs
Toyota has finally entered India’s mass-market electric SUV space with the unveiling of the Urban Cruiser Ebella. Among several other rivals, the model will also compete against the Hyundai Creta Electric. While Toyota is yet to announce prices for the Ebella, bookings are now open nationwide for a token amount of Rs 25,000. On the other hand, the Creta Electric is priced from Rs 18.02 lakh, ex-showroom. Here’s a quick look at how these models compare in terms of range offered and power specs.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is a badge-engineered offering and shares its core architecture with the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Toyota will offer the electric SUV with two battery options. The smaller 49 kWh pack produces 142 hp and 189 Nm of torque, while the larger 61 kWh unit delivers 172 hp and the same 189 Nm of torque. The highlight here is the claimed driving range, with the bigger battery promising up to 543 km on a single charge.
On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta Electric comes with two battery choices of its own. The standard version uses a 42 kWh battery with an ARAI-certified range of 390 km, while the long-range variant gets a larger 51.4 kWh pack that offers a claimed range of 473 km per charge. Powering the Creta Electric is an electric motor producing 171 hp and 255 Nm of torque.
In terms of outright range, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella takes the lead, especially with its larger 61 kWh battery and 543 km claimed figure. The Hyundai Creta Electric, however, counters with stronger torque output. With Toyota’s pricing still under wraps, the final buying decision is likely to hinge on value, features and charging ecosystem support once both models are available side by side in showrooms.
