After teasing it over the past couple of weeks, Volvo has finally taken the wraps off the new EM90 electric minivan/MPV which the company says is a "comfortable living room on the move". The luxury MPV space has witnessed significant growth in recent years, especially in China. Hence, the Volvo EM90 is headed to the Chinese market first, but it is yet to be seen if it will be exclusive to that market.

It is no secret that the new Volvo EM90 is essentially based on the Zeekr 009 luxury minivan that is produced by Volvo's parent brand Geely for the Chinese market. As a fully electric car, the EM90 provides a range of up to 738 km as per the CLTC testing cycle, thanks to a large 116 kWh battery pack that is capable to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes, with a DC fast charger of course.

Like the EX90 flagship SUV, the EM90 is equipped with bi-directional charging which allows one to use the battery of the EM90 as a power bank to charge other electric cars and appliances. The EM90 gets a single electric motor producing 268 hp of maximum power, helping the luxurious people mover dash from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds.

Features on offer include a 15.4-inch infotainment screen, an additional, 15.6-inch screen that is mounted in the roof and folds down, a 21 Bowers & Wilkins speaker system, surround view cameras, a millimetre wave radar and ultrasonic radars for safety, sound isolation and road noise cancellation technology, while dual chamber air suspension and silent tyres that provide a smoother and more comfortable ride, and so on!Discover everything about the automotive world at Times of India.
