After revealing the exterior and interior images of the new-gen Hyundai Kona Electric in December 2022, now the carmaker has finally unveiled the specifications of the Kona EV. Mechanically, the second-gen Kona will be offered in ICE, hybrid and all-electric powertrain options. Here are the complete details about it.

The Hyundai Kona Electric will be powered by two battery packs - a 48.4 kWh and a 65.4 kWh. The standard range 48.4 kWh battery comes paired with an electric motor, cumulatively producing 153 hp power and 250 Nm torque. The long range 65.4 kWh battery mated with an electric motor produced 215 hp power and 255 Nm torque.

The previous-gen Hyundai Kona EV makes use of a smaller 39.2 kWh battery.


Hyundai Kona Electric: Range
Hyundai has not yet revealed the driving range of the standard-range variant, however the brand states that the long-range Kona Electric will offer a WLTP cycle range of 490 km per charge. The new-gen Hyundai Kona Electric is capable of one-pedal driving with a regenerative braking system.

Taking design cues from the 2021 Hyundai Seven concept, the new-gen Kona Electric gets a sleeker-looking wraparound front light bar. The Kona EV gets pixel graphics exterior and sharp lines, similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 as well as split LED headlamps.

Dimensionally, the new-gen Kona is 150mm longer as compared to the old-gen Kona that measures 4,355 mm. Furthermore, it gets a 60mm longer wheelbase and is 25mm wider than the previous-gen Hyundai Kona.

As far as interior is concerned, Hyundai has equipped the new-gen Kona with a dual 12.3-inch wraparound digital driver displays, similar to the Ioniq 5. Moreover, it gets a shift-by-wire gear selector that is now placed behind the steering wheels, allowing more storage space in the open console area.

Hyundai Kona Electric: Safety features
In terms of safety, Hyundai will equip the new-gen Kona electric with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, keyless entry, OTA updates, a heads-up display, connected car technology and a powered tailgate. It will receive ADAS features, such as Blind-spot collision avoidance assist, High beam assist, lane-keeping assist and forward collision-avoidance assist.
