India's highest-selling electric vehicle Tata Nexon EV crosses 50,000 sales mark
Not too long ago, Tata Motors launched the electric version of its Nexon SUV in 2020. Since its launch, the Nexon EV has become the most popular electric car to be sold in the country and has also grown in terms of design, battery life and overall appeal. In a short span of three years, the Nexon EV has now become the highest-selling electric car in the country, with 50,000 units sold. Overall, the Nexon EV and its different variants make up 15 percent of total Nexon sales in the country. The Nexon EV is currently on offer as the EV Prime, EV Max and in additional #Dark edition variations. Prices for the Nexon EV Prime start from Rs 14.49 lakh and go up to Rs 18.79 lakh ex-showroom for the EV Max.
The 50,000 sales milestone is just one of the records that the electric SUV has made in recent times. Earlier, one Nexon EV Max entered the India Book of Records by covering the ‘Fastest’ Kashmir to Kanyakumari drive in an EV. It completed the drive of 4003km in just 95 hours and 46 minutes (under 4 days), successfully proving its ability to undertake multi-city trips. The EV Max offers a higher claimed range figure of 453 km (ARAI-certified) and returned approximately 300 km of range in the real world during the record attempt.
Speaking on the development, Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The Nexon EV customers have grown to 50,000 in just 3 years. This is a testament to how India has embraced EVs as the mobility of the current times. We would like to thank the early adopters, who believed in the promise of the Nexon EV and in turn allowed the EV ecosystem to build and become what it is now. We hope more people experience the promise of an EV and evolve to electric.”
Tata Motors had recently made the Nexon EV Max even more appealing by adding the latest-generation of Harman infotainment touchscreen that debuted in the flagship Harrier and Safari SUVs. The top-of-the-line EV Max XZ+ LUX variant gets the new-gen HD display, new reverse parking camera and other upgrades. It is also offered in the #Dark edition.
