Audi sets up first ultra-fast EV charger in India: Charges an Q8 55 e-tron from 20-80% in 26 mins!
German luxury car manufacturer Audi has set up India’s first ultra-fast charging station in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. Developed with ChargeZone, the 450kW charger provides 360kW power to electric vehicles through a 500-amp liquid-cooled gun.
The Audi Q8 55 e-tron, equipped with a 114 kWh battery, one of the largest on a passenger vehicle in the Indian market, charges from 20% to 80% in 26 minutes, the company said in a statement. The 'e-tron hub' operates on green energy with a solar roof, thus making the EV charging process more sustainable.
The ultra-fast charging station features high-powered guns for fast charging, a lounge for e-tron owners, and trained personnel for assistance. Further, the e-tron owners can access information via the 'myAudi Connect' App.
So far, the carmaker has installed over 140 chargers across 73 cities in India, including dealerships and strategic locations. At present, Audi India has six electric models in its portfolio in India, namely, Q8 50 e-tron, Q8 55 e-tron, Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron, Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron, e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT.
In other news, Audi India has announced a price hike applicable across its entire model range in India starting from January 2024. Audi cars will get expensive by up to 2 percent come 2024 as the company, like most of the manufacturers, has cited rising input costs and overall inflation as a reason behind this decision.
The OEM clocked retail sales of 5,530 units in the initial nine months of the ongoing calendar year. The introduction of new models like Q8 e-tron, Q8 Sportback e-tron, Q3, and Q3 Sportback, alongside sustained interest in A4, A6, Q5, and premium models such as Q7, Q8, A8 L, S5 Sportback, RS5 Sportback, RS Q8, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT, has contributed to the brand's favorable growth.
