Ford has unveiled the highly-anticipated 2024 Explorer EV in the European market. Based on the MEB platform, the Ford Explorer is a midsize electric SUV that is built in collaboration with Volkswagen. The Europe-spec Ford Explorer EV will be manufactured at the manufacturer’s Cologne EV Centre, located in Germany.
Dimensionally, the upcoming Explorer EV will be smaller as compared to the Volkswagen ID4.Sharing its underpinnings with the ID4, the Ford’s electric SUV sports a flat roof, rugged stance and square profile. In terms of design, the Ford Explorer EV features L-shaped LED headlamps with inverted DRLs, chunky wheel patterns and a large logo.

Moving on to the side profile, it is flanked by dual-tone machined alloy wheels, floating roof with black A-pillars and conventional door handles. The rear profile gets C-shaped LED tail-lamps. Ford claims that the Explorer EV gets a 470 liters boot space.

On the inside, the 2024 Ford Explorer EV comes equipped with a portrait style 14.6-inch touchscreen with Ford Sync Move that can be lowered and raised by 30 degrees. Moreover, it also houses a free-flowing 5.0-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 17 litres Mega Console cubby and a soundbar on the dashboard to name a few. New features of the Ford Explorer EV include clear exit assist, hands-free tailgate as optional and assisted lane change.

Ford will be offering the Explorer EV in two variants, namely Explorer and Explorer Premium. The American car manufacturer has yet not revealed the mechanical details, such as battery, range and electric motors of the upcoming EV. Ford asserts that the battery can be charged from 10-80% in 25 minutes only. The 2024 Ford Explorer EV will receive Advanced Driver Assist System with plenty of features, including parking assist, cameras and more.
Placed below the Ford Mach E, the upcoming Ford EV will be offered in two variants in Europe. Bookings will open in late-2023. As far as the price is concerned, the 2024 Ford Explorer EV price is likely to start around 45,000 Euros (around Rs 40 lakh, ex-showroom).
