With the electric vehicle (EV) sales in India finally picking up pace, it is safe to say that the transition to green mobility is imminent as more and more OEMs are now either establishing themselves in the segment or are eyeing to take lead and command the same. For the electric two-wheeler segment, for instance, Bengaluru-based manufacturer Ola Electric has put itself in a dominant position since its inception not long ago.
As per the April retail data released by industry body Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), Ola Electric is well in command of the segment while other entrants such as TVS and Ampere follow the lead as the battle to become the best amongst the rest gets intense.
Ola Electric Ola’s retail sales in April stood at 21,882 units, registering a 72.19 percent growth from 12,708 units in the corresponding month last year. At present, Ola offers three models - the Ola S1 Pro, Ola S1 , and Ola S1 Air.
TVS MotorTVS Motor, which has the IQube electric scooter on offer, retailed 8,318 units, recording a massive fourfold growth as against 1,498 retails posted in the year-ago period.
Ampere VehiclesAmpere Vehicles, the electric mobility subsidiary of Greaves Cotton, registered 8,318 unit retails, up by 27.18 percent as compared to 6,540 units in the year-ago period.
Ather Energy Comes next, Ather Energy, which is closely battling it out with Ampere as it retailed 7,746 units in the month, registering a massive two-fold growth as compared to 2,451 units in April 2022.
Bajaj AutoBajaj Auto retailed 4,013 units in the month, recording nearly a two-fold growth as against 1,222 units in April last year.
Hero ElectricHero Electric witnessed a sharp drop in April, registering 3,331 units, nearly half of 6,578 posted in the corresponding month last year.
