Iconic Kinetic Luna to return as e-moped in Feb: Bookings begin on Republic Day
Guess what's making a comeback in India? As the electric two-wheeler segment continues to grow in the country, the iconic Kinetic Luna is returning, but in an electric avatar. Kinetic Green, the electric vehicle maker, is all set to launch the e-Luna, an electric moped, in February 2024. The bookings for the e-Luna will commence on Republic Day, January 26, 2024, with a nominal token amount of Rs 500. Interested customers can reserve their e-Luna on the company’s website.
The original Luna was a popular two-wheeler in India from the 1970s to the early 2000s. It was known for its simple design, fuel efficiency, and affordability. The EV maker has not yet revealed the specifications of the e-Luna, but it is expected to have a range of around 70-75 km on a single charge.
While everything before the official launch are just speculations, it is possible that the e-Luna will employ a 2kWh battery pack and will get a top speed governed at not more than 60 kmph.
Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, said that the upcoming electric vehicle is designed to cater to the diverse needs of consumers across metro, Tier 1, tier-2, tier-3 cities, and rural markets.”
If priced competitively, the e-Luna could be a game changer in the last-mile mobility sector in the country given its popularity and brand recognition. We can also expect the e-Luna to borrow its design cues from its ICE counterpart, with a host of feature upgrades.
