Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India today revealed two new electric scooters in the Indian market - Activa e: and QC1. This marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to tap into the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) segment in India. Known for its strong presence in the two-wheeler market, Honda's entry into the electric scooter space has garnered a lot of attention. In this slideshow, let’s take a look at the details of both electric scooters.

First let’s talk about the Activa e: The electric scooter will be available in two variants – Standard and Sync Duo. The company will announce pricing and open bookings for Activa e: on January 1, 2025, with deliveries scheduled to begin in February 2025. Initially, the e-scooter will be available in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with plans for a nationwide expansion in the future.

The design of the new Honda Activa E takes inspiration from the European CUV e and also shares lots of components with it. The design is fairly simple yet elegant with crisp, clean lines, all-LED lighting and flush-fitting pillion footpegs. The design is clean without excessive clutter, reflecting a modern yet utilitarian look.

The new Activa e: is based on newly developed platform which features with an underbone frame suspended by a telescopic front fork and monoshock setup at rear. It also gets 160mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake with 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends.

The Activa e: features all LED lighting (headlights, taillights, indicators) and also gets LED DRLs. The entry-level Activa e: gets a 5-inch TFT display with limited Bluetooth functionality whereas the top-spec RoadSync Duo variant features a 7.0-inch display with turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, and notification alerts. The screen can be controlled via toggle switches placed on the handlebar and it also has day and night modes.

The Activa e: gets a swingarm-mounted PNSM electric motor that puts out 6kW and 22Nm of torque. It has top speed of 80kph and Honda also claims it can sprint from 0-60kph in 7.3 seconds. Just like the ICE model, the Activa e: features Honda’s H-Smart key with Smart Find, Smart Safe, Smart Unlock and Smart Start features.

The Activa e: features swappable battery pack systems. It features twin 1.5kWh batteries, which can be swapped out at Honda’s Power Pack Exchanger e: battery swapping stations. It has claimed IDC range of 102 km in one full charge. The two battery packs are placed under the seat, limiting the scooter’s storage capacity. However, it includes two small storage compartments on the front apron, one of which is equipped with a USB charger for added convenience.

Alongside the Activa e:, the company also revealed the QC1. Though they may seem similar at first glance, the QC1 is a more basic and straightforward electric scooter than the Activa E.

The Honda QC1 uses a single 1.5kWh fixed battery. The QC1 offers an IDC range of 80km, with a full charge taking 6 hours and 50 minutes using its 330-watt charger. This charging time reduces to 4 hours and 30 minutes when charged from 0 to 80 percent. The 1.5kWh battery powers a hub-mounted BLDC motor, delivering 1.8kW (2.4hp) of peak power and 77Nm of torque. The QC1 has a top speed of 50kph and can accelerate from 0-40kph in 9.7 seconds.

The QC1 feature all LED lights, a five-inch LCD, a USB type-C charging port, telescopic front forks, dual rear springs, drum brakes on both ends and a 12-inch front and a 10-inch rear alloy wheel.

The Honda QC1 offers 26 liters of under-seat storage and includes a small front apron cubby for storing a phone and a USB charger. Pre-bookings for the QC1 will open on January 1, 2025, and deliveries are expected to start in February.
