As BMW gears up for its Joytown event tomorrow in New Delhi, the two-wheeler division of the Bavarian manufacturer has released a teaser image of the CE 04 electric scooter, confirming that the EV will be displayed for the first time in the country at the aforementioned music and driving festival. This also hints at the fact that the CE 04 electric scooter could be launched in the Indian market in the coming months.
That said, the high-end electric scooter is being displayed at the BMW Joytown to gauge public response, which could be a deciding factor for CE 04's India launch. What we do know is that if BMW Motorrad launches the e-scooter in India, it would go on to become the most premium electric two-wheeler in the country.
If the scooter's futuristic styling didn't wow you yet, wait till you hear the specs. The CE 04 is equipped with a permanent-magnet liquid-cooled synchronous motor that belts out an impressive 42 hp of power at 4,900 rpm - the highest for any electric two-wheeler in India. For a reference, the recently launched Ultraviolette F77 electric motorcycle has a maximum power output of 40.5 hp in the top-end Limited Edition spec.
The CE 04's electric motor also produces a 62 Nm of torque at just 1,500 rpm. The BMW scooter has an electronically limited top-speed of 121 kmph (75 mph), and can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 2.6 seconds. As per the WMTC test cycle, the CE 04 has a range of about 129 km on a single full charge, which would limit its usage to the urban sector.
The scooter is built on a steel double loop frame, suspended on telescopic forks up front with 110 mm travel, coupled with a single suspension strut at the rear with 92 mm travel. It gets 15-inch wheels on both ends, and braking comes from 265 mm dual discs up front & a 265 mm single rear disc with BMW Motorrad ABS.
The features on offer with the CE 04 include a full LED headlight, a 10.25-inch TFT display including BMW Motorrad Connectivity, Keyless Ride, three ride modes (Eco, Rain, Road), Automatic Stability Control), electronic reverse, ventilated storage compartment with USB-C charging point, and much more.
