Bajaj has updated the Chetak electric scooter for the 2023 model year, introducing a new range-topping variant known as the Chetak Premium 2023 Edition, which is priced at Rs 1,51,958 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The new variant commands a premium of Rs 29,535 over the standard version of the electric scooter that will continue to be sold alongside.

The new 2023 Chetak Premium is available in three new paint schemes, namely Matte Caribbean Blue, Matte Coarse Grey and Satin Black. There's also the addition of a brand-new feature in the form of a larger colour LCD instrument cluster as compared to the standard version. Other highlights of the new variant include a two-toned seat, body-coloured rear view mirrors, a satin black grab rail and matching pillion footrest castings. Moreover, the headlamp casing, blinkers and central trim elements are finished in Charcoal Black.




The electric scooter now has an ARAI-certified range of 108 km on a single full charge, which Bajaj claims translates to a real world range of 90 km. The company says that the electric scooter can be fully charged in 4 hours, while a 0 - 80% charge can be achieved in 2.75 hours. The electric motor has a max power output of 4.2 kW, and a peak torque rating of 20 Nm. The Bajaj Chetak Premium 2023 Edition has a claimed top-speed of 63 kmph.

Bajaj says that the Chetak electric scooter range is now available in 60+ cities, while the number will increase to 85 cities by the end of March 2023. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto, said, "Building on the robust work done on our EV supply chain, we have surely and firmly commenced the scale-up phase.
