EKA’s electric buses will be deployed in three state transport departments, namely Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala - all for intra-city operations as part of the government's efforts to provide clean, sustainable, and efficient transportation services. EKA claims that these 310 electric buses could save about 1.4 lakh tons of CO2 emissions in the 12 years the tender is for.

The EKA 9 e-bus in question is 9m long, with a seating capacity of 32 pax (+1 driver) and an additional similar standing capacity. As per EKA's claims, the bus would have an intra-city range of around 200 km on a single full charge. EKA 9 is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with a maximum power output of 200 kW and a peak torque rating of 2500 Nm. It comes with re-generative braking system, as well as ventilated disc brakes on all 4 wheels.

Moreover, the e-bus gets advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) tech, cameras, and an emergency stop button too. There's also an air conditioning system, demister and a bacterial filtration system. We recently also got in touch with Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder & Chairman of EKA by Pinnacle Mobility Solutions, and he revealed that the EKA 9 electric buses are built 100% in accordance with the government's 'Make in India' campaign. Mehta also revealed EKA Mobility's plans to tap into the LCV segment soon.
