Volkswagen Taigun facelift: Variant-wise features explained
Volkswagen India has just revealed the new Volkswagen Taigun facelift SUV in the Indian market. The updated model features a fresh new design, added features, safety and an automatic gearbox option for the 1.0-litre TSI engine. Interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting their nearest dealerships, with amounts ranging from Rs 11,000 to Rs 50,000. The new Volkswagen Taigun continues to compete with the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster and more.
The SUV is offered in seven variants - Comfortline, Highline, Highline Plus, Topline, GT Line, GT Plus Chrome and GT Plus Sport, in this article let’s take a look at the features in each variant in detail.
Comfortline (1.0-TSI MT)
The Comfortline is the entry-level trim and gets features such as auto-levelling LED headlamps with LED DRLs and rear LED tail-lamps featuring sequential turn indicators, along with chrome detailing on the front bumper. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers and also gets functional roof rails. Inside, it features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, paired with a 6-speaker setup. The instrument cluster uses analogue dials with a monochrome MID, and the cabin gets a dual-tone theme with fabric upholstery, a sliding front centre armrest and a height-adjustable driver seat.
Comfort features include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, rear wiper, washer and defogger, along with a 12V plug and steering-mounted controls. On the safety front, it is equipped with six airbags, ESC, ABS, EBD, TPMS, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts. It also gets an idle engine start/stop and remote central locking.
Highline (1.0 TSI MT/AT)
Next comes Highline, this variant gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with voice commands for the AC and infotainment system. It also includes a wireless charger, four USB-C sockets and ambient lighting. It rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and features a shark-fin antenna and a front scuff plate. The cabin comes finished in black and grey fabric upholstery, and adds a rear centre armrest with twin cup holders. Convenience and driver-focused features include paddle shifters, cruise control and hill-start assist for automatic variants, along with valet mode. It is also equipped with front parking sensors and a reversing camera.
Highline Plus (1.0 TSI MT/AT)
The Highline Plus additionally features welcome and goodbye animations in the taillamps, along with a single-pane sunroof and push-button start/stop. It also gets follow-me-home headlights, auto headlights and rain-sensing wipers, along with electrically folding side mirrors. Inside, it features an 8-inch digital driver’s display, a cooled glove box and a parcel tray, while convenience is further enhanced by an auto-dimming IRVM.
Topline (1.0 TSI MT/AT)
This trim features illuminated VW logos at the front and rear, along with a front light band and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Inside, it gets a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and connected car technology, along with grey and black leatherette upholstery. It also includes powered and ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof.
GT Line (1.0 TSI MT/AT)
The GT Line variant gets gloss-black strips on the front bumper and rides on 17-inch black alloy wheels. Inside, it features fabric seats with grey stitching.
GT Plus Chrome / GT Plus Sport
Offered only with 1.5 TSI 7-speed DSG Auto
This top-of-the-line trim features ‘GT’ lettering on the doors in red, along with red-painted brake callipers at the front and rear. It also gets rear disc brakes and aluminium pedals. Inside, it comes with grey and red leatherette upholstery, with ‘GT’ embroidered in red on the front seats.
