Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Variant-wise features explained
Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently revealed the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV in the Indian market. Based on the Suzuki e-Vitara, the Ebella EV shares a majority of its core components with its Maruti counterpart. This reveal marks a key milestone for Toyota, marking its entry into India’s mass-market EV segment with a mid-size electric SUV that will take on competitors like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.
The bookings for the EV are already underway; interested customers can book it online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The prices are expected to be announced in the coming weeks and the deliveries are expected to begin right after the price announcement. Prices are expected to begin from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The company is also offering an 8-year battery warranty, 60 per cent buyback assurance and a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) programme.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in two battery pack options - 49kWh or a 61kWh battery pack. The 49kWh battery will come paired with a single motor placed on the front axle, which puts out 144hp. The bigger 61kWh battery also gets single-motor but here it puts out 174hp. Both motors produce identical 189Nm of torque. Talking about range, the EV has a claimed range of 440 km with the 49 kWh battery pack, while the larger 61 kWh version is rated at 543 km on a single charge. E1: Offered only with 41 kWh
The E1 is the entry-level trim and gets features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four speakers, LED headlamps with DRLs, ambient lighting, multiple drive modes including a snow mode, automatic climate control with an air purifier and rear AC vents, automatic headlamps, all power windows with one-touch up and down function, keyless entry and start, steering-mounted controls, 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, a rear wiper and washer, a full-size spare wheel, a shark-fin antenna, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment, front and rear armrests, reclining and sliding rear seats, a passenger-side seatback pocket, fabric upholstery, USB charging ports, seven airbags, a day/night IRVM, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, front and rear parking sensors, a rear defogger and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

E2: Offered only with 61 kWh
The E2 trim additionally gets a luggage shelf, a rear parking camera and a wireless phone charger pad.

Next comes the top-of-the-line E3, which gets all the features mentioned in E1 and E2. Additionally, it gets automatic headlamp levelling, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a single-pane fixed glass roof, a powered driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and a JBL sound system.
Design-wise, the overall silhouette looks similar to the Suzuki e-Vitara; however, it has a distinctive front design with a wide, sculpted grille, which is typical of Toyota's design language. On the sides, it looks very similar to the Urban SUV concept model and features black plastic cladding. It gets 18-inch aerodynamically designed alloy wheels, and just like the e-Vitara, it features rear door handles in the C-pillar.
At the rear, it has a lot of resemblance with the e-Vitara with connecting taillights and an integrated spoiler. Other highlights include a high-mounted stop lamp, and a skid plate and there’s also a small squarish fog lamp at the lower part of the bumper. In terms of dimensions, the Urban Cruiser EV measures 4,285mm in length, 1,800mm in width, 1,640mm in height and has a generous 2,700mm wheelbase. It has a turning radius of 5.2 metres.
