Skoda Slavia facelift spied testing: All about Verna, City rival
Skoda Auto India is gearing up to launch the updated Skoda Slavia facelift in the Indian market. The sedan has been spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times, with each sighting revealing new details about the upcoming model. Now, the Slavia facelift has been spied once again, offering a closer look at what to expect from the refreshed sedan. The sedan made its debut in 2021 and is now set for its first mid-cycle update. When launched, the updated sedan will compete with the Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
The sedan made its debut back in 2021. The mid-cycle update will feature cosmetic design upgrades, a new variant lineup, added features, and more. While the overall silhouette is expected to stay largely unchanged, the Slavia facelift is likely to receive extensively revised front and rear styling.
Up front, it is expected to feature a redesigned fascia with sharper headlamps, a revised grille incorporating a connected light strip, similar to the Kushaq facelift and a new bumper design. Along the sides, the sedan could get newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, updates are likely to include a reworked boot lid, slimmer tail-lamp housing, and other subtle styling enhancements. The sedan will also feature dynamic turn signals, The current model uses halogen indicators at both ends; the facelifted model will be replaced by LED units. The updated combination lamps with dynamic turn indicators will be placed in the lower outer section, with a sweeping inside-to-out animation similar to those seen on higher-end sedans.
Moving inside, changes are expected to be minimal, limited largely to updated upholstery. On the features front, it is likely to gain a fully digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel, ventilated front seats and a host of additional upgrades. Mechanically, it is expected to continue unchanged, retaining the same set of engine options. Just like the Taigun, Volkswagen is expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit. Another engine is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol.
