Skoda Kushaq facelift teased with DDLJ theme: What to expect
Skoda is gearing up to give the Kushaq its first mid-cycle refresh. The company has now given a sneak peek into what’s coming through an official teaser. As part of this facelift, the model is expected to get some cosmetic tweaks, new features and more. Here’s what we know so far and what to expect.
As seen in the teaser, the facelifted Kushaq has been draped under a green cover and the caption says “The wait is almost over”, hinting that the launch could happen soon. The model has been set against a mustard field backdrop. The visual clearly draws inspiration from the iconic Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, complete with the music from the movie.
The overall silhouette is likely to remain familiar, with the split headlamp layout carried over. However, revised bumpers and slimmer elements up front should help differentiate the facelift from the outgoing model. Once launched, the updated Kushaq will continue to compete in the crowded mid-size SUV segment against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, and the Tata Sierra among others.
Inside the cabin, the changes are expected to be more substantial. The Kushaq facelift is likely to get a larger touchscreen infotainment screen and several new comfort and tech features. These could include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
Mechanically, the Kushaq facelift is expected to stay unchanged. It will continue with the same turbo-petrol engine options: a 1.0-litre unit producing 116 hp and 178 Nm, and a 1.5-litre unit delivering 150 hp and 250 Nm. Transmission choices will remain the same as well, including a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed DSG, depending on the engine variant.Discover everything about the automotive world at Times of India.
