Renault Duster turbo mileage revealed: How efficient the SUV really is
Renault India has announced the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the new Renault Duster, giving a clearer picture of what buyers can expect from its turbo-petrol setup. The SUV, powered by the Turbo TCe 160 engine, delivers a claimed mileage of 18.45 kmpl with the DCT automatic gearbox. The manual version, paired with a 6-speed transmission, returns 17.75 kmpl.
These numbers place the new Duster in a competitive spot within the mid-size SUV space, especially considering its focus on performance. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 163 hp and 280 Nm of torque, making it one of the more powerful options in its segment.
Apart from this, Renault is also offering a smaller 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This unit produces 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque and is available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Looking ahead, the company has also confirmed plans to introduce a hybrid version. This will use a 1.8-litre petrol engine combined with a 1.4 kWh battery. The combined output of this E-Tech 160 setup is expected to be 160 hp and 172 Nm of torque. Renault says the 1.8-litre E-Tech strong hybrid can run on electric power for up to 80% of city driving, which should help boost efficiency. It will be interesting to see what kind of real-world mileage this version delivers.
In terms of pricing, the new Duster is positioned between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
