Kia India recently announced that it will now offer all its diesel models with Intelligent Transmission Technology (iMT) only. The RDE-compliant 2023 Kia Seltos, the Sonet, and the Carens will now be upgraded to 6iMT variants as standard, effective from April 1, 2023.
The Kia Sonet diesel variants with iMT price start at Rs 9.95 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.89 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).

The Kia Seltos’ 1.5L CRDi VGT diesel with its price starts from Rs 12.39 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec HTX+ is priced at Rs 17.59 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

The price of the Kia Carens’ diesel variants with iMT technology starts from Rs 12.65 lakh and goes up to Rs 18 lakh for the higher-spec Luxury+. Both prices are ex-showroom.

Kia India introduced the iMT in petrol variants of the Kia Seltos in 2020 and the Sonet in 2021. The iMT Editions of the Kia Seltos and the Kia Sonet have remained popular among customers in 2022, said Kia. The iMT technology offers a wide range of benefits like no clutch fatigue and engine stalling in high gears at low speeds. Moreover, it also offers good fuel efficiency as the clutch is operated by Transmission Control Unit (TCU).
Meanwhile, Kia India registers a sales growth of 44% in FY and recorded a market share of 7.4% in the last quarter. In March 2023, the Kia Sonet became a best-seller with 8,677 units. The Kia Seltos registered 6,554 unit sales, while the Carens reported 6,102 unit sales.
