Nissan Kicks SUV launched at Rs 9.55 lakh
Nissan is also offering a subscription package for customers who don't wish to downright buy the
Nissan Kicks
for a vehicle-running cost of Rs 11 per kilometre.“The maintenance package is best-in-class and offers a hassle-free ownership experience. We are confident that with its progressive SUV design and advanced technology, as well as many best-in-class propositions, the new Nissan Kicks will stand out in this competitive SUV segment in India,” said Thomas Kuel, President, Nissan India Operations.
The Indian version of Nissan Kicks takes design cues from the company's international SUV models. Kicks gets a prominent signature 'V-Motion' grille at the front which comes with a chrome finished bezel. The headlamps are sleek and get LED projector beams along with LED daytime running lights. The fog lamps are not conventionally round in shape but in a sort of rectangular fashion.
From the side, Kicks is a sporty looking SUV with a floating roofline. It stands tall on 17-inch alloy wheels offering a ground clearance of 210mm. It also gets a contrast colour roof and signature boomerang tail lamps.
In terms of measurements, Kicks is longer, wider and taller than its direct rival, Hyundai Creta.
Nissan has decided to bring a sports utility vehicle inspired by its global models in India called the 'Kicks'.
It is over 4-meter and after its national launch in January, it will directly rival Hyundai's popular SUV, Creta.
Nissan Kicks takes design elements from the company's international SUV models. It gets a prominent 'V-Motion' grille at the front which comes with chrome finished bezel.
The side profile of the Kicks looks sporty with a floating roofline and prominent character lines. There are sleek roof rails with sharp ends which are not just for the aesthetic appeal but can bear up to 100kg load as Nissan says.
At the rear, it has a slanted profile with signature boomerang tail lamps and a chrome bar in the centre.
The SUV comes with leather upholstery in black and brown and the same treatment can be seen on the dash as well as the door trims.
The Kicks offers two drivetrain options. First is a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox churning 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque. The other is a 1.4-litre diesel oil burner coupled with a six-speed manual transmission delivering 110PS of power and a peak torque of 240Nm.
The engine delivery is impressive from the start and it remains quite strong till you cross the mid-range, after which it feels less progressive and a bit noisy. The overall performance and acceleration of the SUV are pretty decent, and you can easily cruise it at triple digit speeds.
The Nissan Kicks gets Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) as standard features. It also offers Hill Start Assist, a 360-degree camera which is a segment first, four airbags and front seat belts with pretensioners.
If Nissan manages to undercut Creta in terms of pricing, Kicks can be a game-changer for it in the Indian market.
Inside, Kicks offers a dual-tone interior and an eight-inch touchscreen display with connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV gets black and brown leather upholstery while a similar colour combination is evident on the dash and door trims as well.
It has rear AC vents and for the first time in this segment, automatic air-conditioning is offered as standard in the SUV.
Kicks is based on the same platform that also underpins the Nissan Terrano and the Renault Duster. It carries forward the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines from its siblings. The petrol powertrain, mated to a five-speed manual transmission delivers 106PS of power and a peak torque of 142Nm while the diesel returns 110PS of power and 240 Nm of peak torque of 240Nm.
In terms of safety, Nissan Kicks comes with front disc and rear drum type braking setup. It also gets
