New Mahindra Thar Roxx special edition teased: Details
Those planning to purchase the Mahindra Thar Roxx might want to pause their decision for now, as a recently released teaser suggests a new special edition with distinctive design elements and additional features is on the way. The teaser hints at a new exterior colour theme, and based on what the teaser suggests, the upcoming version could be an all-black edition, similar to what Mahindra has previously offered on models like the Scorpio-N and XUV700. Those editions, branded as Black or Ebony, featured a dark exterior finish with blacked-out accents in place of chrome, along with discreet badges to highlight their special-edition status.
The special edition is also expected to feature updated upholstery and exclusive badging to set it apart from the standard model. If not an all-black version, Mahindra could introduce another special edition with a distinct colour scheme both inside and out. That said, nothing has been officially confirmed at this stage. There is also speculation that it could be a facelift, but at this point, we strongly believe that this is unlikely to be the case. Irrespective of whether this turns out to be a special edition or a facelift, no changes are expected on the mechanical front.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is offered with two engine options - the MStallion 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which puts out 177 PS of power, and 380 Nm torque in automatic variants, and the manual variants put out 162 PS power and 330 nm torque. Talking about the diesel, the 2.2-litre MHawk turbo diesel puts out 175 PS of power and 370 nm torque in 4x4 variants and 152 PS of power, and 330 nm torque in RWD variants. Both engines get a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option.
In terms of features, the Roxx gets a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped door trims, 6-way powered driver seat, front ventilated seats, cooled glove box, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, obstacle view, 9-speaker Harman/Kardon speakers with subwoofer, power foldable ORVM, 65 Watt USB C ports, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital cluster, Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, wireless charger, an acoustic windshield, leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto headlights with wipers, footwell lighting, ambient lighting and much more.
