A juvenile driver who recently caused a fatal crash in Pune, resulting in the deaths of two motorcyclists, was released on bail just 15 hours after the accident. When Pune police produced the minor in front of the magistrate, they requested the court to treat him as an adult. However, the request was rejected and the court granted bail under the Juvenile Justice Act, imposing a few conditions along with the bail.
The motorcyclists, a man and a woman, died on the spot after the speeding Porsche Taycan crashed into them from behind. The police arrived at the spot and booked the minor for rash and negligent driving, endangering life, and causing harm under IPC Sections 304A, 279, 337, 338, 427, and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Act at Pune City's Yerwada Police Station.

While the court rejected the police's request to try the accused as an adult, he was granted bail under the Juvenile Justice Act with several conditions. These include 15 days of community service with the Yerwada traffic police, writing a reflective essay on the accident and its consequences, and undergoing psychiatric counselling. Besides that, he was asked to seek a doctor’s help to help him quit drinking.
Meanwhile, the Pune police department said that it will pursue legal action against the minor's father and the bar that served alcohol to the underage accused.
