MG Majestor production begins: Fortuner rival’s specs, expected price & more
MG Motor India has announced that production of the new MG Majestor SUV has commenced at the company’s Halol plant in Gujarat. The bookings for the SUV are already underway, interested customers can book the new Majestor online or by visiting their nearest MG dealership by paying token amount of Rs 41,000. The first 3,000 customers who pre-book the Majestor will receive a complimentary package comprising a five-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assistance and a five-year labour-free service contract.
Once launched, the new Majestor will rival the Toyota Fortuner Legender and is expected to be priced from around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will be offered in three variants, with both six- and seven-seat configurations available. Three variants include entry-level Sharp 4x2, mid-spec Savvy 4x2 and range-topping Savvy 4x4.
Design-wise, it features a large Matrix-style grille, flanked by Falcon-inspired daytime running lights and modern split headlamps at the front. The side profile highlights its premium stance with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear is marked by new connected LED tail-lights and a sculpted tailgate that carries ‘Morris Garages’ and ‘Majestor’ badging. Other highlights include faux twin exhaust tips, a skid plate, an integrated spoiler, a rear wiper with a washer and more.
Colour options include monotone shades such as Metal Black, Pearl White, Concrete Grey and Metal Ash. As mentioned before, the new Majestor is offered in both six and seven-seat layout options. The six-seater gets individual captain seats in the second row, while the seven-seater features a conventional bench. The dashboard gets a complete redesign with piano-black trim and silver accents that lend a modern feel. Features-wise, it gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, infotainment, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, MG’s i-Smart 2.0 connected-car technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, electrically adjustable front seats that offer heating, cooling and multiple massage functions, three-zone automatic climate control with rear-row vents, dual wireless charging pads, a panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, 64-colour ambient lighting, a gesture-operated powered tailgate and more.
Safety equipment includes Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning with prevention and blind-spot monitoring. Standard safety features also include electronic stability control, hill-hold and hill-descent control, ISOFIX mounts, a surround-view camera system and six airbags.
Talking about the engine, it’s offered in a single 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel with 215 hp of power, which comes paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV gets a 4x4 system with an all-terrain management software which MG calls M-Hub, which offers up to 10 selectable terrain and drive modes. It also gets a crawl mode called the M-Crawl function, and three differential locks. It also has a maximum water-wading capacity of up to 810 mm for the SUV.
