Mercedes-Maybach GLS gets price drop of over Rs 40 lakh! Here's why
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the made-in-India Mercedes-Maybach GLS luxury SUV in the Indian market priced at Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks a substantial reduction of over Rs 40 lakh compared to the fully imported version, which was priced at Rs 3.17 crore. Along with this, the company also launched the Maybach GLS Celebration Edition, priced at Re 4.10 crore (both prices, ex-showroom). The company said that the local assembly of the GLS Maybach will make it more accessible to buyers while also reducing waiting periods through quicker deliveries.
There are no changes made to the luxury SUV, it continues to get a large chrome-finished grille with vertical slats and ‘Maybach’ lettering, flanked by LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The bumper incorporates faux air intakes adorned with multiple chrome Maybach insignias. At the sides, it gets massive monoblock 23-inch forged alloy wheels and a Maybach badge on the D-pillar, while the rear is highlighted by wraparound LED tail-lamps and twin exhaust outlets.
The interior of the Maybach features Nappa leather along with unique trim inserts. The SUV gets twin screens for infotainment and for the instrument clusters. Other features include twin 11.6-inch displays for the rear passengers, dual wireless phone chargers, a panoramic sunroof, powered sunblinds, 4-zone climate control, a 29-speaker Burmester sound system, automatically extending side steps, adaptive air suspension, heated and ventilated front and rear seats with memory function, massaging seats front and rear, rear, Samsung tablet to control in-car functions, 360-degree camera and many more.
The locally assembled GLS Maybach continues to be powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid system. The engine puts out 557hp of power and 730Nm torque and comes paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels.
