Mahindra Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO, XUV 400 EV score 5 stars in BNCAP crash tests

Homegrown Automaker Mahindra and Mahindra has announced that the new Thar Roxx, Mahindra XUV 3XO and XUV 400 EV have scored 5-star safety rating for both adult occupant and child occupant protection at the Bharat NCAP crash tests. Notably, the Thar Roxx is also the first body-on-frame SUV to achieve a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating with the highest points ever awarded to an ICE vehicle.

The Thar Roxx SUV scored 31.09 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child protection. Bharat NCAP tested AX5L and MX3 variants of the Thar Roxx. The Roxx gets safety features such as auto-dimming iRVM, all four disc brakes, hill ascent and descent assist, traction control, six airbags, ESC, three-point seat belts for all passengers, Level 2 ADAS with 10 features, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, obstacle view and more.

The new Roxx is essentially a five-door version of the Mahindra Thar and features a new design, improved dynamics, new interior layout with features, added safety and much more. The Roxx is available in six variants - MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L and AX7L with prices starting from Rs 12.99 lakh for the MX1 base petrol MT, going up to Rs 20.49 lakh for the AX7L diesel MT, ex-showroom introductory. Talking about the prices of 4x4 variants, the entry-level MX3 4x4 MT is priced at Rs 18.79 lakh, the mid-spec AX5 L 4x4 AT is priced at Rs 20.99 lakh and the top-of-the-line AX7 L 4x4 MT is priced at 20.99 lakh whereas the AT variant is priced at Re 22.49 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The Roxx 4x4 variant commands about Rs 1.8 lakh to 2 lakh higher than the equivalent 4x2 variants.

Talking about the XUV 3XO, the sub-compact SUV too has garnered five-star ratings for both adult occupant and child occupant protection at the Bharat NCAP crash test. The 3XO scored 29.36 points out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test, while in the Child Occupant Protection (COP), it scored 43 points out of 49. In terms of safety, all variants get 6 airbags, rear disc brakes, ESP, and ISOFIX anchors as standard across all variants Higher-spec versions get an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill-start and hill descent assist, a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor and Level 2 ADAS which is a segment-first.

The all-electric XUV 400 EV has also been awarded five-star ratings for both adult occupant and child occupant protection at the Bharat NCAP crash test. The 400 EV scored 30.38 points out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test, while in the Child Occupant Protection (COP), it scored 43 points out of 49. The XUV 400 is offered with two battery pack options - 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh. The 34.5 kWh battery pack has a range of 375 Km and the bigger 39.4 kWh gets 456 Km (both claimed, as per MIDC).
