Ian Fleming's James Bond is celebrating his 60 birthday this year and to mark this occasion, Sixty Years of James Bond - an official two-part auction will take place next month. A total of 60 lots will go under the hammer to benefit 45 selected charities on the 28th of September. The lots will include cars, watches, and costumes from No Times To Die.
Plus, there will also be an online sale from 5th September to 5th October on themed experiences, props, and collectibles from all 25 movies.
A free-to-attend, pre-sale exhibition showcasing highlights from Sixty Years of James Bond will take place between September 15th-28th at Christie’s HQ at 8 King Street, London.
The headline of the 28th September event will be the silver Aston Martin DB5, one of the eight replica stunt cars built for Not Time To Die. Expected to fetch some $1.5-2 million, the DB5's proceeds will benefit The Prince's Trust which works with young people and the Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund's support of charities assisting serving and former members of the three Intelligence Agencies and UK Special Forces.
Other vehicles include an SFX version of the Q Jet Boat from The World Is Not Enough, a Land Rover Defender 110 featured in No Time To Die’s stunt scenes, and a bespoke 007 Land Rover Defender with the 60th Anniversary logo on the instrument panel.
Bidders will also have the chance to bring home standout pieces like a Swarovski-encrusted, gold-plated egg in the style of Faberge from Octopussy and Timothy Dalton’s signed tuxedo from Licence To Kill.
In related news, a silver Aston Martin DB5 that had been owned by
Sean Connery was sold last week for $2.4 million. The 1964 DB5 that Connery first drove in Goldfinger in 1964 was loaded with gadgets like machine guns, ejector seat, and oil slick maker. Connery had purchased the car 50 years later in 2018, of course, sans the guns and oil dispensing mechanisms.
