Hyundai hits record year with 7.6 lakh units, SUVs contribute 69% of sales!
Hyundai Motor India has closed FY 2024–25 on a strong note, recording its best-ever performance in the country. The company produced 7.63 lakh vehicles during the financial year and sold 7.62 lakh units. These were record figures for the country across production, sales and after-sales operations.
SUVs continued to be the biggest growth driver for Hyundai in India. The segment accounted for 69 per cent of the company’s domestic sales in FY25. Not to mention, the Creta held over 30 per cent market share in the mid-size SUV segment.
Currently, Hyundai’s India lineup includes the Exter, Venue, Venue N Line, Creta, Creta N Line and the Alcazar. Hyundai also saw encouraging traction in rural markets, particularly for its CNG models. CNG vehicle sales in rural areas grew by 33 per cent year-on-year, while rural penetration increased to 15 per cent in FY25.
Hyundai also confirmed that it is strategically evaluating the introduction of Genesis, its global luxury brand, in India.
In terms of manufacturing expansion, Hyundai has begun engine production at its Talegaon plant in Pune, with vehicle production scheduled to start in the third quarter of FY26. Once fully operational, Hyundai’s annual production capacity in India will increase to 1.074 million units.
Connected car technology remains another focus area for Hyundai. Since introducing connected mobility in 2019, the company has equipped 12 of its 14 models with Bluelink technology. Connected cars accounted for 23.2 per cent of Hyundai’s retail sales in FY25, a sharp rise from 6.2 per cent in FY19–20.
Looking ahead, Hyundai has laid out an aggressive product roadmap, planning 26 new models and upgrades by FY2030. This will include six electric vehicles, 20 ICE models and additional hybrid offerings.
To support EV adoption, Hyundai plans to install 600 fast public chargers over the next six to seven years, with over 100 already operational. Its charger management system currently supports more than 14,000 charging points across India.
In terms of exports, the company has shipped a cumulative 3.7 million vehicles to over 150 countries. Exports grew by 21 per cent year-on-year in April 2025, and Hyundai is targeting export growth of 7 to 8 per cent in FY26, with a focus on Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
