Hyundai Ai3 Micro SUV: Upcoming Tata Punch rival and what to expect

Talking about the powertrain, the Ai3 will get the same 1.2-litre VTVT NA petrol engine that also does the duty in Venue, i20, Grand i10 Nios and Aura. However, Hyundai might slightly tune the engine. This engine produces 82 bhp of power and 115 Nm of torque, gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual or an AMT.

Hyundai Motor India is all set to launch the next generation Hyundai Verna to the Indian market. The new Verna will be based on a new platform and will get Hyundai’s new design language. The prices for the new Verna are expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will continue to compete with Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.

After the launch of the next-generation Verna, it is expected that Hyundai will work on launching a new Micro SUV codenamed Ai3. When launched this micro SUV will rival Tata Punch, Maruti Ignis and Citron C3. The prototype was recently spied on international soil with heavy camouflage.
The new Ai3 micro SUV will be based on the same platform that underpins the newly launched Grand i10 Nios and Aura sedan. The micro SUV will measure under 3.8 meters in length and will have ground clearance of more than 180 mm.

Talking about the design of the Ai3, the micro SUV will borrow its design cues from Venue compact SUV. It will get Hyundai’s parametric grille with a split headlamp setup and strong lines on the bonnet. The micro SUV will feature 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and from the side, it looks a bit like Casper. Moving on to the back, the micro SUV will get the angular design for its tail lamps and will also feature rear scuff plates.
Hyundai cars are known for having first-in-segment features. The Ai3 is expected that be filled with features such as an electric sunroof, connected car tech, six airbags, a wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a digital cluster and many more. The company will offer more upmarket features compared to its rivals.
