Honda Cars India
on Friday announced that the
Honda City lead the mid-size sedan pack with the highest sales in the year 2020. The
5th-gen Honda City
entered the market back in July 2020.
Honda City led the chart with cumulative sales of 21,826 units from January – December 2020. Before the 5th-gen
Honda
City arrived in July, it was the 4th-gen model that was keeping the numbers going. The 4th gen and the 5th gen Honda City are both available in the market currently.
The cumulative sales for the entire mid-size sedan segment stand at 45,277 units, which means that the Japanese duo contributed a little over 46% to the entire figure. The Honda City market share stood at 41% in December 2020.
The 5th-gen Honda City not only boosted the sales for the automaker in the
lockdown period
but also contributed to the growth of the mid-size segment by almost 10% in July – December 2020 period. City managed to get a sales figure of 17,347 in July – December 2020 alone.
