Honda City: 2020 vs 2019 price comparison
NEW DELHI: The all-new 5th generation Honda City has entered the Indian market. Over 22 years, City has been clocked over eight lakh unit sales, emerging as an icon.
The new Honda City has undergone several changes particularly displaying strong aesthetics, features and new engines. Interestingly, Honda Cars India has decided to field 4th and 5th generation City in the market in tandem.
We have reviewed the 5th generation Honda City and believe the sedan is in its most emotive avatar till date. The 5th generation, inarguably, packs new design, more features and engine choices, however, for the sake of making a decision, it’s important to take a look at the price gap between the variants of the two generations.
The 5th-gen Honda City starts at a price of Rs 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the 4th-gen City (2019) starts at Rs 9.91 lakh (ex-showroom). Noting the fact that Honda has eliminated the 4th gen entry-level SV (MT) trim, the wide margin between the figures shouldn’t really surprise you. The entry-level trim in the

Here is a direct comparison between the 5 trims of the 2020 Honda City and its counterparts from the previous generation. The corresponding variants offered in the 2020 and the 2019 Honda City line-up are V MT, V CVT, VX MT, VX CVT, ZX MT and the ZX CVT.
The difference between the prices of all the variants of the 2020 City and the 2019 City collectively range from Rs 13,900 to Rs 43,900. The lowest increase in price is in the ZX variant. And the highest increase is in the VX(CVT) variant.
The 1.5-litre diesel is an all-new one in the 2020 City. Prices range between Rs 12.40 lakh to Rs 14.65 lakh (ex-showroom). No diesel-automatic choice is available.
The increase in the prices is quite justified as the 2020 Honda City comes with the all-new 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC with VTC petrol engine replacing the older version. The new engine guarantees better performance, low emissions and most importantly a good fuel efficiency.
