Cred's new car service: View challans, charge Fastag, track insurance and more
Bengaluru-based fintech platform has forayed into the vehicle management industry with its new ‘Garage’ platform. As part of this single-dashboard interface, members will gain access to a host of services, including 24/7 concierge service, concierge service, timely reminders, document management, and insights on spending. Speaking to TOI Auto, Kunal Shah, Founder, Cred said that it took the company one year to develop and launch garage.
Cred Garage - What are the benefits
The platform will send reminders for crucial vehicle ownership tasks like pollution checks, emission tests, and insurance renewals. Further, it will enable the members access to maintenance records, performance insights, and fuel expenditure data on the application dashboard.
Besides that, the Garage boasts of DigiLocker integration, using which essential documents such as driver's licenses, Registration Certificates, and insurance papers will be easily stored on the platform. In cases of unexpected breakdowns, whether in the city or on a cross-country road trip, the concierge will provide prompt roadside assistance. Members of the platform can also keep a tab on their FASTag info and can also recharge it on Cred.
How to add your vehicle to Cred Garage:
Cred Garage is available to all Cred users. To enroll your vehicle on the platform, users simply need to open the Cred app and search for ‘garage’ in the Explore Cred section. On the next page, add your vehicles by entering your vehicle number and that’s that.
Further in our conversation, Shah said that Cred was started five years ago with the intent of rewarding good behaviour of customers. “You need a credit score of 750 and above to be eligible for Cred membership. Once you are a member, there are no monthly or yearly charges to be part of Garage.”
While the electric vehicle segment is still growing in India and has certain roadblocks in its adoption such as the lack of charging infra, Shah said that EV charging is not part of Garage as of now but we do have interesting plans for EV in future updates.
“Since Cred members have good credit scores, the platform becomes a good source for acquiring good drivers and that should result in lower insurance costs in the future. With Garage, Cred wants to create the same frictionless and rewarding environment in the automotive space like they did for credit cards” he noted.
