Bharat Mobility Global Expo: Tata Motors unveil new Sierra, Harrier EV, and Avinya X Concept
NEW DELHI: Tata Motors on Friday unveiled three significant vehicles at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi: the Sierra ICE, Harrier EV, and Avinya X concept.
Tata Sierra ICE
Tata Motors revived the iconic Sierra nameplate with the unveiling of the Sierra ICE concept. This SUV, available in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric versions, is aimed at the competitive compact SUV segment, taking on models like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos.
The near-production concept, showcased in a bright yellow finish, features a wide LED light bar at the front, a distinctive grille, a classic rectangular side window design, and a rear with a continuous LED light strip and chunky bumper.
The Sierra ICE is expected to offer two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2-litre diesel engine, producing 170 bhp. It will likely be paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors also revealed the Harrier EV, the company's first mid-size electric SUV. Slated for launch later this year, the Harrier EV is designed to compete with rivals like the Mahindra XUV.e9 and BYD Atto 3 in the premium EV segment.
The Harrier EV features a closed-off grille with a connected LED DRL strip, distinguishing it from its ICE-powered counterpart. The redesigned bumper and aero-optimized 5-spoke alloy wheels add to its EV-specific identity, along with EV badging on the doors.
Safety features include seven airbags, Level-2 ADAS, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
Tata Avinya X Concept
Tata Motors introduced the Avinya X concept, which is expected to be the first model from a new lineup of premium EVs. This large coupe-SUV concept represents a departure from the earlier wagon-like design of the Avinya concept revealed in 2022. The first model in the Avinya range is expected to launch in 2026.
The Avinya X concept features sharply raked front and rear windscreens, high ground clearance, and smooth yet muscular body panels. A standout design element is the expanded ‘T’ logo at the front and rear, which doubles as an LED lighting signature. Gloss black finishes on the bumpers contrast with the clean lines of the overall design.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the largest mobility expo in India, which is expected to witness over 100 new launches across automobiles, component products and technologies.
The five-day expo is being held across three venues: Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in the national capital and India Expo Center and Mart, Greater Noida.
